WELCOME to Nest by Tamara blog
Hi- It's Tamara. I'm happy you've stopped by, and since 2010 I've been sharing my passion for interior design, history, art, entertaining, travel & fashion. I am an interior designer, textile designer and writer living and working in New York City and East Hampton, Long Island. My musings have taken me to international design, art, antique and epicurean events and I have lots to share. I'm grateful to have been listed as the #1 top design blog, blogs to watch, top design blogs and named and awarded Rising Star of Design by the IFDA NY industry organization. Please feel free to reach out to our team for an interior design consultation at NestbyTamara.com -Tamara

Fascinated with Utilitarian Chic: And, Viyet NY has a fabulous collection of pre-owned pieces

Fascinated with Utilitarian Chic!
Stylish wares with an edge,
a little patina & some with an industrial influence.
a good example of Utilitarian Chic

I enjoy stopping over to Viyet because they add new pieces regularly to their website offering previously owned designer wares.  The prices are good, yet the choices are plentiful.  This week we have utilitarian style furnishings and accessories on our thoughts as we plan to decorate a Designer's Atelier space for Housingwork's annual fundraiser

Design On A Dime on April 23rd in New York City.  We'll be showcasing a design duo working side by side in their studio while creating their fabrics and tabletop collections.  Of course we'll need some industrial lighting, a long desk that can take a few nicks, and great casement pieces to hold the designer's supplies.

Take a look at a sample of some of Viyet's utilitarian pieces,
and it is no surprise they are on-trend!

2. Theodore Alexander A La Carte Table
5.Caleb Anderson Metal Bookcases
We will paint our room in Ralph Lauren's Classic Pink color. The soft pink color should offer a nice contrast to some of our industrial pieces, a black/blue over dyed rug, some ebony colored furniture and art.
A special thank you to Viyet NY for donating this lovely two-tone tripod table.  It will accessorize our space, and sits at the perfect height to hold extra straight pins when sewing.  Although whimsical with the two-tone design, it is quite sturdy made of metal and wood and will fit perfectly well in our space.

Happy Nesting
XO Tamara
